HI!HAMLET
Biopic

From Laundryman's Daughter to Hollywood Legend, is a Hollywood-style inspirational story that briefly encapsulates the dramatic turn of fate of Wong Liu-shang, and the obstacles in between and the courage and wisdom to overcome them. More importantly, this 'superpower' of facing adversity is of benefit to every ordinary person today, whether you are a star or not, almost a century later.
As a child, like many teenage girls, Huang Liushang's dream of becoming an actress was born out of being a fan at the cinema, and at the age of nine, when she received a large tip for delivering clothes to her family's laundry, she sneaked off to the cinema to watch a movie. This small decision opened Pandora's box and she never came out of the spell of cinema, but was instantly hooked. She used to make up all sorts of lies to her teachers to get out of class to go to the cinema, even saving money for lunch so that she could sit in the front row. She also used to lock herself in her room and perform in front of the mirror for hours.
Her bad eating habits caused her to fall ill and drew her father's attention to her. Her father was strongly opposed to her dream because "good men don't join the army, good women don't join the arts" and Hollywood "doesn't want Chinese people". Her mother believed that the camera would take away a person's soul. To stop her, her father beat her with a bamboo whip, causing her to suffer from depression and near-insanity.
However, her family's opposition did not stop her from going to Hollywood, and at the age of 14, Wong got her first film role, a part in The Red Lantern (1919). She finally got half a foot in Hollywood, becoming the first Chinese to do so.

I want everyone to see her true beauty and I want everyone who sees my designs to appreciate how independent, confident and beautiful she is.
